Who we are

My name is Samantha and I am the Owner of K9ALASKA! My shop pup’s name is Alaska!

I adopted Alaska when she was 2 months old, and originally she was going to be a therapy dog and I was going to be a teacher. Now, In my third year of college, having been diagnosed with POTS and NCS, as well as struggling with some back-related problems, Alaska has become a Cardiac Alert and Mobility service dog. Along with her path changing, mine is also changing! I am no longer pursuing a teaching degree but rather an educational studies degree in hopes of doing disability advocacy as a profession.

I grew up with ADHD, Anxiety, and Panic disorders, and I know the importance of someone having a voice for you when you don’t have one for yourself. I have also been on the physical side of needing a voice when I developed Bursitis in my hips at just 14, had knee reconstruction surgery at 16, and Bone Marrow Edema at 18, facing those hardships is never easy, especially when you’re so young. I have been the case that makes doctors tilt their heads and go, “huh…”. I don’t want people to feel alone anymore. I want to be that voice for others. I used to be nervous to talk about what was going on with my body, and now I embrace it. No one is alone.

Having these recent changes in life and now having a service dog, I was in search of gear! As a college student, I didn’t have much to spend and found it very tricky to find high-quality, affordable gear. That is when I started K9Alaska. I have a deep love for anything craft-related and have just completely buried myself in the world of service dogs and dog gear. So please, welcome! I am here for each and every one of my followers, friends, and family, whether it’s in the gear department or the support department. I hear you, and I love you!
